A very long Wednesday
An early start from Wellington and no fog thank goodness. We made the most of our few hours in Sydney by geocaching our way around the Rocks which resulted in going to places we had never seen before. We had a pleasant surprise on the next leg to Singapore when we found we had been upgraded to larger seats. Unfortunately we were downgraded to cattle class for the leg to Paris. It was incredibly easy and quick getting into France. Another few hours wait at Charles de Gaulle for the flight to Bordeaux. With great trepidation we drove out of the airport in our brand new Peugot 207 with GPS. The GPS is easy to use and an amazing thing. I don´t know how we managed without one last time. You can set the destination and take either the quickest or shortest route. Instructions are given by a woman we have chosen to call Helen because of the bossy overtones. It is somewhat alarming when you drive onto a new motorway for which there is no map. The cursor is seen driving through the trees and Helen is at a loss for words. A couple of times she has sent us up a farm track or looking for a paper road but the experience has been mostly a good one. The car is incredibly economic doing about 5 l/100 km. A NZ$120 dollar tank full of diesel takes us about 850 km.
